'''Effects''' - Once the character obtains Eyes in the Woods, they begin to attract a number of Followers. These Followers will actively seek out the character, arriving at a rate of 1d4 per month on a random day within the month. If a number of Followers arrive together, intended as a group, rejecting one will reject the entire group - otherwise, each may be turned away individually and new ones will arrive next month. Whenever a Follower arrives, roll 1d100 to determine which of the 3 follower tables to use and then again to see which Follower is gained.

These Followers remain and are loyal as long as they reasonably well treated. If they are lost by any means, they may be replaced - either by waiting for new Followers to arrive or by through hiring characters using the rules for Hirelings. To do so requires the character to pay double the normal hiring rate per month for the intense training regimen they receive and an additional fee equal to twice the monthly hiring fee. Hirelings used in this manner they gain 1 Level or Hit Dice every 6 Months until they are the appropriate Level or Hit Dice of the original Follower. The cost of their training increases as they increase in Level.

Followers gained by Eyes in the Woods NEVER cost money, barring training, but come in three forms - Animal, Devoted and Guardian.

Animal Followers consists of animals and magical animals that can freely follow the character and fend for themselves. The Character they follow must either provide food and drink or allow them the freedom to obtain it - if it is not available in the given environment, they [[must]] provide it. These are almost always considered Animal Companions. Their HD is increased by 1 for every 5 Levels of the Character.

Devoted Followers are only able to donate a total 6 months of the year in service, agreed upon when they pledge to Follow the Character. The rest of the time is dedicated towards survival, religious functions and so forth. If the Character is within the region that the Follower lives in during this time, the Follower is likely to still help. If a Devoted Follower has a Class, their Level is equal to the Character's Level over 3. If a Devoted Follower has HD, increase it by 1 for every 5 Levels of the Character.

Guardian Followers are able to obtain food and water themselves and are available to help for the entire year but are limited to a certain area, depending on what they are and how powerful they are. The typical range such a Follower has is equal to their overland walking speed for 3 days worth of walking. For example, a Treant has Move 12, which translates to 24 Miles per day, or a 72 mile radius, not including clear land and roads. If a Guardian Follower has a Class, their Level is equal to the Character's Level over 2. If a Guardian Follower has HD, increase it by 1 for every 4 Levels of the Character.

If a Follower has a Weapon listed, assume they have Specialization in that weapon, providing they are either a Warrior Class or it is a Natural Weapon.

Followers will not willingly part with their equipment. If the majority of Followers are killed by the character's intent or gross negligence, the character will lose Eyes in the Woods. Sending the Followers to fight an unwinnable battle despite their protests is considered negligent if they are ultimately coerced into it and suffer the above losses.

Finally, if the character is able to gain this tag multiple times, they gain access to an additional 12 Followers and the amount that arrive in a month increases by 1d4. If a specific [Type] is listed, they may only gain those Followers. For example Eyes in the Woods [Guardians] allows the character to gain another 12 Followers but ONLY from the Guardian table and the 1d4 gained must be from this table. If a Level is listed, it conforms to this rule - Eyes in the Woods II means the character has 24 Followers and gains 2d4 a month.
