Resistance [Type]

Interaction - Highest, Counters Vulnerability

Effects - Character has a Resistance to a type of effect or type of damage. If applied to damage, the Resistance reduces it by the percentage. If applied to an effect that does not have damage (such as Charm or Sleep), this is the chance that the effect will be completely ignored.

Resistance to the Intense form of something is not automatically granted by Resistance to the Normal form but if a character is Resistant to the Intense form, they are always Resistant to the Normal form.

If a character gains the same Resistance type multiple times, it does not stack - a character with Resistance 20% [Necrotic] and Resistance 50% [Necrotic] has Resistance 50% [Necrotic], not Resistance 70% [Necrotic]. If a character has different Resistances that apply, they all apply - a character with Magic Resistance 50% and Charm Resistance 90% will roll one and, if that fails, the other.

A character cannot forego Resistance - it is always on. Resistance cannot prevent an effect happening around a character or damage taken as a consequence of something directed at them - Magic Resistance will not stop Earthquake nor lower the damage caused by it.

If a Character gains a Resistance and Vulnerability to the same Type, they counter each other, cancelling each other out and leaving whatever level remains behind. Resistance 25% [Necrotic] combined with Vulnerability 50% [Necrotic] leaves a character with Vulnerability 25% [Necrotic]
