Classless Characters
Most Characters have Classes or else follow a template that gives them multiple HD and abilities. For characters who do not already have a class, such as 0th level characters, children and many forms of monster, they may take a Class of their choice but are considered Inexperienced - they count as a 0th Level version of that Class and must gain XP to qualify for 1st Level.
If a character has a pseudo-Class from their template (for example an Orc Warrior NPC is not a classed-fighter) they must, instead, treat their new class as a Dual Class.
