Different vision modes alter how the character perceives their environment.

Vision Types

(range; for every range increment, decrease the effective penetration of vision by 20%)

(the size of a character modifies these, as per personal range: To determine the size of a Personal Range for characters above Medium Size, increase the effective Range by 1/2 of the original value. For every Size Category below Small, lower the effective Range by 1/2 of the current value.)

These have no effect on Sight Range - a character who sees with 100% Light up to 30 feet, lost in a pitch black cave, will still have 0 feet of visibility beyond the range their infravision finishes at. On a stormy night, meanwhile, with 10% visibility, the character would have decreasing range of vision up to beyond the edge of their infravision - beyond this point, their Sight Range is judged as 10%.

Blindness

A special case is made for Blindness.

Partial Blindness causes a character to halve the effective Light level or use 50%, whichever is lower.

Total Blindness causes a character to perceive the world as having Light 0% and nothing can increase it.
